China's Medical Consumables Export Booms at the Start of 2026: Made-in-China Intelligence Seizes Global High Ground
In March 2026, data jointly released by the General Administration of Customs and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products showed that China's medical consumables exports witnessed a historic high growth. From January to February 2026, the export volume of medical consumables reached 6.82 billion US dollars, surging by 28.7% year-on-year, setting a record high for the same period in the past five years. This growth rate far exceeded the 3.24% average annual growth rate in 2025, making medical consumables a key pillar for stabilizing foreign trade.

In terms of segments, high-value interventional consumables, first-aid resuscitation consumables, and intelligent household consumables performed prominently, with export volumes of 2.25 billion, 1.58 billion, and 1.03 billion US dollars respectively, and year-on-year growth rates all exceeding 30%. The market pattern continued to optimize: emerging markets along the "Belt and Road" became the main growth driver, with exports to ASEAN, the Middle East, and Latin America all increasing by more than 29% year-on-year. Breakthroughs were also made in high-end European and American markets, with exports to the EU and the US growing by over 19% year-on-year, as domestic high-value consumables gradually broke the monopoly of international brands.
The growth is driven by the triple resonance of policies, technology, and market demand. The new version of the medical device export certificate regulations has simplified compliance procedures, and the optimized export tax rebate rate has reduced enterprise costs. Domestic consumables have accelerated the acquisition of international certifications, and technological innovation has promoted the upgrading of products to high value-added ones. Against the backdrop of global aging and the need to improve public health systems, coupled with the restructuring of the global supply chain, China's stable production capacity has become the first choice worldwide.
Looking ahead to the whole year, it is estimated that the export volume of medical consumables will exceed 41 billion US dollars, with a year-on-year growth of 22% to 25%. In the future, high-value, compliance, green and intelligent development will become the core direction, and China's medical consumables are steadily moving from a "world factory" to a global provider of medical and health solutions.
