Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, when the moon is at its fullest and brightest. In 2026 that lands on Friday 25 September. China’s State Council has set the national public holiday at three days, 25–27 September, with no adjusted working weekend attached. Because National Day follows on 1–7 October, late September becomes a fortnight of reduced capacity for factories, customs brokers and freight forwarders — the single most important scheduling fact for any Q4 purchase order placed in China.
Mid-Autumn is the festival of reunion. Families gather to share mooncakes, light lanterns and watch the full moon together, and colleagues who spend most of the year on the moulding line or on the road go home to the people they love. For us it is also a moment of thanks. Because Mid-Autumn runs almost directly into National Day, factories, customs brokers and trucking companies in China operate at reduced capacity from 25 September until 7 October — nearly two full weeks. For buyers sourcing manual resuscitators, anesthesia masks, oxygen masks or anti-choking devices, the advice is practical: confirm Q4 replenishment now, lock in production slots before the break, and expect freight space to tighten in the first week of October as the backlog clears. Standard lead time is 15–25 days for catalogue items, so an order released in early October is realistically a November shipment. OEM and ODM projects — custom branding, packaging and configuration — should be submitted early as well, so that sampling and artwork approval are not pushed behind the holidays.
